Ragi Dosa

Today am here with a Dosa Variety, which is healthy  for kids as well as for grownups. Ragi is commonly known as Finger Millet, it can be ground and cooked into cakes, pudding, dosa and many more varieties.

Finger millet is very high in Calcium, rich in iron and fiber and has a better energy content than any other cereals which makes it ideal for feeding infants and the elderly. In southern part of India,  pediatricians recommend finger millet / Ragi for the infants of  6 months and above because its high nutritional content. Home made ragi -malt is a popular infant food.

Now as my kids are grown up, I have tried making dosa with the ragi / finger millet flour. This .recipe goes to the 2nd day of BM 55 under  the theme Kids Delight- Healthy breakfast.

We need:

Ragi flour 2cups
Udad dal 1cup
Onion 1 medium
Green chillies 5
Salt to taste
Curd/ yogurt 1cup
Water if required

Method:

Soak udad dal overnight.
Grind the soaked dal with onions and green chillies.
Now mix ragi flour and curd to the udad batter.
Now add salt to taste.
Leave the batter aside for 1 hour.
Add some water if required.
The batter consistancy should be of dosa batter.
Heat dosa pan and add spatula full of batter on pan and make as dosa.
Cook on both the sides and serve hot with any chutney or chutney powder.
It tastes better if you  make this dosa very thin and crispy so that kids love it.

Check to see what my fellow bloggers are cooking for BM 55.

Also sending this recipe to Srivalli's Kids Delight Event- Healthy Breakfast hosted by Lavina Agarwal for this month.
