Punukulu or punugulu is a common street food in the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. These are crispy deep fried snack made of udad dal and rice batter ( dosa batter). These can be served with coconut chutney or tomato chutney. Adding chopped onions, chili and cilantro are optional but they add a great taste tot he snack.
This recipe goes to day 2 of Blogging Marathon 83 under the theme " Home made street food". Here goes the recipe....
Ingredients:
Dosa Batter 2 cups
Sooji / semolina 1/4 cup
Chopped onion 1/4 cup
Chopped cilantro 1/4 cup
Chopped green chili 2 spoons
Salt to taste
Oil for deep frying
Preparation:
In a mixing bowl add dosa batter. sooji, chopped onion, green chili, cilantro and salt to taste.
Mix everything well and set aside for 10 minutes.
Heat oil in deep frying pan.
Take little quantity with spoon and drop it in hot oil.
Fry till nice and crisp.
Remove and place them on paper towel.
Serve hot with and chutney.
