Papdi Chaat

Papdi chaat or  papri chaat is a popular and traditional fast food or street food from Indian subcontinent. Papri chaat is prepared using crisp fried wafers known as papri or papdi along with boiled chick peas, boiled or fried potatoes, yogurt / curd, sweet and green chutney, chopped onion tomato and finally garnished with sev and chaat masala. Papdi is prepared with plain flour dough adding  cumin seeds and  oil to give it nice crunch. Then they are rolled out thin cut in circles and deep fried in oil until nice and crisp.

Remember Suhaali which I prepared last week from same state snacks theme, I have used those Suhali's as papdi / papri here. This delicious and lip smacking dish goes to day 15 of Mega Marathon theme " Sweets and Snacks".

Ingredients:

Papdi 15
Potato 1 large
Chick peas soaked and cooked 1 cup
Chopped onion 1/2 cup
Chopped tomato 1/2 cup
Chopped cilantro 1/4 cup
Thin Sev 1/2 cup
Pomegranate seeds 1/2 cup
Chaat masala 1 tbsp
Curd 1/2 cup
Green chutney 1/4 cup
Sweet chutney 1/4 cup
Oil for deep frying

Preparation:

Peel the skin of Potato in cut it into small pieces / cubes.
Deep fry them in hot oil till nice and crisp.
Beat the curd to smooth and thin, set aside.
Arrange the papdi in a serving plate.
Now start layering the papdi's, add some fried potatoes first  and then boiled chickpeas.

Now add some beaten curd, some green chutney and sweet chutney all over.
Now add chopped onions and tomatoes.
Top it with thin sev, sprinkle some chaat masala.
Finally garnish with chopped cilantro and pomegranate seeds.
Serve immediately.

That's one sinfully delicious plate of chat Sushma. Everything about the plate has no words to describe. Want to just grab the plate and finish it off. Nice share.
