Are you a fan of one pot meals like me and want to save time and have less cleaning in your kitchen? Here is one such recipe which is not only easy to prepare but also a healthy and nutritious meal for your entire family. Like lentils and legumes like black beans are high in protein and fiber. For this recipe you can use store bought canned black beans or soak the beans at home and use them. Black bean pulao tastes amazing with mild spices used in this recipe. You can add more spices like chilies and garam masala if you want the dish to be spicy.

Black Rajma / Black beans 1 cup
Basmathi rice 2 cups
Onion 1 medium thinly sliced
Tomato 1 medium chopped
Green chili 2 slit
Ginger Garlic paste 1 /2 tbsp
Chopped mint 1/2 cup
Chopped cilantro 1/2 cup
Cardamom 2
Cinnamon stick 1 inch
Bay leaf 1
Cloves 4
Garam masala 1 tbsp
Chili powder 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil / ghee 3 tbsp
Preparation:
Wash and soak black rajma for 10-12 hours.
Wash and soak basmathi rice for 30 minutes.
In a presser cooker heat oil / ghee and add all the whole spices.
Saute for a minute, add sliced onions and saute till golden brown.
Add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell disappears.
Now add chopped tomato, slit green chilies and all dry masalas.
Mix well and cook till tomatoes turn soft.
Now add soaked rajma, mint and coriander leaves.
Mix and cook for 4-5 minutes.
Now add soaked rice along with 4 cups water.
Adjust salt to taste.
Cover and cook for 3 whistles.
Let presser release naturally before opening the lid.
Serve hot with any raita or gravy curry.

I have made Rajma Biryani , but not tried with black beans , probably because they are not easily available . Let me get my hands on them and hive it a try , the dish looks wonderful !
I've never used black beans in Indian style dishes. But your pulao sounds like the perfect one-pot dish to make.
One pot meals are always such time saver!..and including lentils is so healthy as well!
I would have easily eaten up that plate happily. The pulao looks so good, with such lovely flavors...
