Rasam Idly

Sambar idly is the common breakfast dish made and served in South Indian kitchen. On the other

 hand Rasam Idly - a fusion dish is equally popular and served in many South Indian Restaurants.

 This simple yet delicious dish is very simple to make and will be loved by all age groups. This recipe

 goes to Week 4 day @ of Blogging Marathon 130 under the theme " Kids Delight - Healthy

 Breakfast Recipes"





Ingredients:


Idly batter as required

Tomatoes 2

Garlic cloves 4

Black pepper 1 tsp

Cumin seeds 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

Rasam powder 1 tsp

Chopped cilantro 1/2 cup

Water 4 cups


For tempering:


Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp

Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp

Udad dal 1 tsp

Red chili 2

Curry leaves 6

Oil 2 tsps




Preparation:


In a blender add garlic, cumin and pepper corns and blend it roughly.

Take a big sauce pan, add 4 cups water chopped tomatoes and ground garlic, cumin paste.

Also add salt, turmeric powder and  rasam powder.

Mix everything well and bring it to boil.

Once its reaches boiling point add chopped cilantro and continue boiling for 5-6 minutes.

Switch off flame and set aside to prepare tempering.

In a small pan heat 2 tsps oil and add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, udad dal, curry leaves and red chili.

Saute for a minute and transfer this to prepared rasam.

Prepare idly and place them in a serving bowl or plate.

Add prepared rasam on top and serve hot.

This is surely a delicious one if kids enjoy it...I mostly make sambar vada, will have to try this on them!
