Black Chickpeas or Kala Chana is an excellent source of protein. It is also beneficial in boosting
immune system, promote muscle mass, regulated diabetes and enhances hair, skin and nail health.
This sundal is often made during Ganesh Chaturti and Navratri.
This recipe goes to Week 4 Day 2 of Blogging Marathon 131 under the theme "Kids Delight -Healthy
Snacks".
Ingredients:
Black Chickpeas 1 cup
Freshly grated coconut 1tbsp
Slit green chili 1
Curry leaves 6
Chana dal 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Red chili 1
Asafetida 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Grated ginger 1/4 tsp
Chopped cilantro 1 tbsp
Oil 1 tbsp
Preparation:
Wash and soak chickpeas over night or for at least 8 hours.
Drain the water, wash the chick peas once again and presser cook for 2 whistles.
Heat oil in a pan and add chana dal, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, slit green chili, red chili,
Asafetida and grated ginger.
Saute for a minute and add boiled chickpeas.
Add salt and turmeric powder, mix and cook for 4-5 minutes.
Add grated coconut, mix and cook for another minute.
Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve.

To tell the truth, I have never made Sundals. I always make a chat from chana, but I promise I will definitely try this one! It sounds really flavorful .
This is surely so healthy and an excellent one to feed the kids!..as you say we often make it for navratri..
